Why should I lose my first love,
When He's been so gracious unto me?
He's disposed to forgive all the sins in my life,
They just melt at the whisper of His word.

O the nature of that smile
On His forgiving face,
So warm unto me
When I needed so much grace.

Why should I lose my first love,
When I've seen Him so full of grace and truth?
Why run away from that blessed ground
Where I first met a love so warm and deep?

I love Him more now after I've sinned
For I've found out what He is really like.
He's a God of such love, He'll forgive and forget,
So I can put my full trust in Him now.
